  • Co-chair

    Greetings everyone! I’m Heidi, one of the co-chairs of the Aalto Sustainability Club. I’m currently studying Complex Systems at the School of Science, aiming to graduate this year.

    While I’ve been actively involved in volunteering at Aalto, joining ASC felt like a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact. A systemic change is essential for a sustainable future, and through ASC, I aim to spark discussions on where we stand, what’s being done, and how students from all fields can contribute—both in their careers and beyond.

    Outside of academics, I’m a vegan cooking enthusiast who enjoys baking (and especially eating!) sourdough bread at home. I also love to dance, practice yoga, chill in my hammock, and challenge myself with long hikes!

    Hi everyone! My name is Gloria and I’m so excited to be the co-chair of ASC this year. I am in the Creative Sustainability master’s program at Aalto’s School of Business and have a bachelor’s degree in finance. My goal is to spread awareness and inspire action around sustainability issues, within the Aalto community and beyond. Outside of my studies and the club, I like hiking, surfing (sadly not in Finland!), karate, and cooking and baking vegan recipes.   • Treasurer

    Hello Everyone!
    Faizan here, and I’m excited to continue my role as the treasurer of the club for 2025! Having served in this position, I’m eager to keep managing the financial aspects of our club—securing funding for events, handling bills, and ensuring our operations remain smooth and transparent. My goal is to maintain strong financial stability, supporting the club’s continued growth and success.

    I’m now in my second year of my master’s in Biomass Refining, which basically means I make cool stuff from wood 🧑🏻‍🔬🪵. While sustainability is often used as a buzzword, I see it as a challenge that requires action, not just conversation. That’s why I joined ASC—to inspire our campus, students, and members to embrace sustainable living through meaningful events that showcase real, practical solutions.

    In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball, hanging out with friends, and making music at home. Looking forward to another great year of working together to make our community a model of environmental responsibility! 🤞

  • Marketing and Communications

    Hi everyone! I'm Iida, and I’m the Head of Marketing and Communications at ASC this year. I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in the Life Science Technologies programme at the School of Science. I joined ASC to connect with like-minded individuals and contribute to foster sustainable practices throughout the Aalto community.

    Outside of my studies, I like to read, dance and spend quality time with friends and family. I've been vegan for 10 years, and alongside sustainability, compassion is one of my core values. I’m looking forward to working with the board this year and making a positive impact!

    Hi! I’m Iris and this year I am the community and membership lead at ASC. I am currently completing the Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s programme here at Aalto, and I am so excited to be working with ASC this year to connect my studies more deeply with my passion for a more sustainable tomorrow. Alongside my degree I am also playing sports competitively and love to bake, read and travel in my free time.     Hi! I’m Anna, 4th year economics student from Aalto. I’m passionately interested in current affairs of the world and hope to work with sustainable development in the future.

    I love learning, reading and writing, all kinds of animals, and nature. I study economics, because I want to understand the world and its biggest systems. I dream of being able to create positive change on the planet.

    Hi everyone! I am Huang, a Sustainable Entrepreneurship student from Aalto Business School. I am excited to be the event lead at ASC this year to discover how sustainability concepts and solutions can create impacts via different forms of activities. Beyond my studies, I like to explore different recipes and find a time to make them someday in the future, as well as enjoy my time in a cafe and drink some coffee.     Hello, it’s Qaisar here. I am a General Board Member of ASC this year.I am a first year master’s student in the European Mining Course. I joined this club because I wanted to connect with like minded people. As a mining engineer, I am interested in addressing environmental challenges, as it’s a major concern across industries. I am a bit inclined towards research oriented activities related to Sustainability. Besides my studies, I love to read research articles and explore cuisines from different countries as I feel like it’s a way to experience diverse cultures, traditions and flavors.     Hello everyone! I am a second year PhD student at Aalto in applied mathematics. At the end of my studies I engaged in environmental activism in different organisations, such as Scientist Rebellion and other related organisations in Norway and continued after moving to Finland.

    I organized talks, protests, panel discussions, petitions to companies and universities across the nordic countries.

    I have been collaborating with initiatives and NGOs in Finland to promote better climate policies in companies such as Nordea.

    In my free time, I enjoy climbing outside with friends!

    Hello! I’m Arsalan, a second-year master’s student in the School of Chemical Engineering. Over the past year, I served as the General Board Member for Community and Membership for the 2024-2025 board and continue to work for same role. I chose to continue working with ASC as it aligns with my passion for sustainability, particularly in industrial applications. Outside of my role at ASC, I’m currently focused on completing my master’s thesis. In my free time, I enjoy running, jogging, cooking especially asian cuisines, reading, and exploring new languages.
